Employer 1: Welder-Fitter

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
• Operate brazing and soldering equipment
• Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
• Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must know how to operate hoisting and lifting equipment
• Must know how to operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC) • Must have in-house and on-site Structural Steel Miscellanies experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• High school level (Secondary school) any diploma, degree, or trade certificates are advantages

Employer 2: Welder

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment
• Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
• Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines
• Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
• Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
• Operate brazing and soldering equipment
• Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
• Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to read and interpret vessel drawings and isometric drawings.
• Welding Structural, layout and cutting of vessels, cutting pups for piping, sub arc welding.
• Layout, cut holes, weld long seams, circs, and all attachments pertaining to vessels.
• Piping – measure and cut pups, weld spool pieces to isometric drawings.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Must obtain certification in Canada upon arrival (B-Pressure Ticket etc)
